Reticle

A reticle (also called a crosshair or reticule) is a pattern of fine lines or markings that are superimposed over the field of view in an optical instrument, such as a telescope, microscope, or gun sight. The reticle serves as a reference point for aiming or measuring the size and position of objects in the field of view.
Reticles come in various shapes and sizes, including simple crosshairs, dots, circles, or complex patterns with multiple lines and shapes. They can be illuminated or non-illuminated, depending on the application and lighting conditions. Reticles are commonly used in firearms for aiming at a target and in telescopes for locating and tracking celestial objects. They can also be used in microscopes for measuring the size and position of microscopic objects.
